after all the positive feedback for my Farming & Breeding Guide I thought you might be interested in another one about something else I tried lately. This time it’s about:
Building and Managing a Crafting Station
Disclaimer: All numbers in this guide assume you have premium status. In this beta I only build crafting stations on my private island. From the experience of the betas before there is no difference to stations build in cities or guild islands/territories. If there is now please be sure to let me know so I can edit the guide. Thanks!
Where can Crafting Stations be build?
1. Private Island
This is where every player (with premium) can build crafting stations. If you don’t know how and where to buy your Island take a look at my Farming & Breeding Guide.
2. Major City
If you take a look at the local map (N) of a city you’ll see a lot of (most probably already occupied) building plots. If you find an empty plot you can rent it and build a station there. At launch the prices range from 10k to 300k silver (last beta), the farer away from the city center the cheaper.
I say rent instead of buy, because every month there is an auction where every plot in the city goes on ‘sale’. So anyone with more silver than you can ‘take over’ your station. To keep it you have to ‘counter’ the highest bid. Because you are the current owner you only need half the amount of silver to do so.
3. Guild Island, Guild Territory
Nothing you can do personally. What is being build is up to the guild leadership.
What is important to know is that, at crafting stations on private islands the base ‘Resource Return Rate’ is 0% compared to stations in cities where it is 15%, 45% with crafting focus (don’t know about guild islands/territories). You can however get 35% if you use crafting focus.
For this Guide I will describe how to build and manage a station on your private island.
Let’s get started:
Building a Crafting Station:
First you need to buy and then travel to your private island (Farming & Breeding Guide). You only need a level 1 island as it has 1 Building Plot.
To build your station you have to find a building plot (large or small depending on what you want to build). You can easily spot them on the minimap or the local map (N). Go to the plot you want to build on.
1. Hit the Build button (upper right)
2. Go to the tab where the station you want to build is located
3. Press Build underneath the picture of the stations
4. Move to the center of the plot till the colour changes to green and click Build
Now you see a construction site. Click it to see what resources you need to complete the station. If you want to know the resources you need before you build your station you can click on the Info button (picture of the station, top right corner).
I want to build a toolmaker so I need: 50 T1 wood, 5 T1 stone (can be harvested right here on your island), and 300 T2 stone blocks (gather/refine or buy them). To add the resources just click on the hammer.
….and now your Crafting Station is ready!!!
What you have now is a station where you can do T1 and T2 crafting/refining.
Managing a Crafting Station:
Take a look at the screenshot above, you see 3 bars two full one empty. If you hover with your mouse over them you get additional info:
1st bar is the Crafting Capacity
2nd the Durability
3rd the Food Supply
As long as you craft/refine T2 or T3 none of the above is used. From T4 on you definitely need food. The other bars didn’t change while I was testing on my island but I think they will given heavy usage.
This replenishes over time. If you get to 0% you still can craft but the station will use more food. I don’t have any numbers on that.
If under 90% you can’t craft any more and must repair the station.
Food Supply (Nutrition):
For every Item crafted/refined from T4 on the nutrition goes down. I cant say for certain how much is used per craft/refine. For example refining 10 T4 wood costs 10 nutrition while cooking 10 T4 turnip salad costs 215. It is somehow based on the item level. Here is a recent post on the Albion Online Forum discussing it.
To open the management view you have to click on the portrait of the worker (see screenshot above):
Here you can set who is allowed to use and/or help you manage the station. Just read the explanations. On the ‘custom’ tab be sure to click on the question marks, there you get all the infos you need.
This is all about silver.
If the station did earn any silver you can collect it here. To have the station earn something you need to…
You can set fees (or not) for users and associates. Who is what depends on the access rights. When set to public, joe player pays the user fee and members from your guild the associate fee. The amount of silver the player has to pay depends on the item level of what is being crafted: If the fee is 20% he has to pay exactly the item level in silver. For example: 10 T4 wheat soup have iv 192, if the fee is 20% the player pays 192 silver.
Formula: (fee in % * Item level) / 20
Here you give your station silver. This will be used to pay a reward to a player who feeds the station. That is if you set a reward.
Here you set the amount of silver the player get if he feeds the station 1k nutrition points as long as the station has silver left.
If the durability is below 100% you can repair the station here. The window shows you the resources needed.
Of course you want to upgrade the station. Up to T3 you can craft everything for free elsewhere. Here you see what is needed to get your station to the next tier! After an update the crafting capacity goes down ca. 50%.
If for any reason you need your station to go back one tier you can do this here. A window will open showing you the resources you get back.
If you need the building plot for something else you can destroy the station here. A window will open showing you the resources you get back.
So how to supply food….
Simple drag and drop food from your inventory to the empty space left of ‘Food Supply’.
What food can you use?
You can feed your station any cooked food, they won’t accept crops or raw meat.
What about the favourite dish?
Every station has a favourite dish. If you click on the icon you see the details. If you feed the station their favourite dish you get the double nutrition points added to your food supply bar! Notice that the numbers in the window are for 10 (in my example) turnip salads. Food is crafted in stacks of 10 so most windows in the game show the values for that amount.
That’s it! I hope this helps you getting your own crafting station set up.
Please don’t hesitate to point out where you think I’m wrong or if you spot any errors. Also if you have additional informations let me know and I’ll include them.
