Book Report: Blood, Sweat, and Pixels

If you’ve ever been curious how your favourite video game goes from idea to E3 to the console or PC of your choice, I highly recommend you give this book by Jason Schreier (currently of Kotaku fame) a read. Having interviewed approximately 100 people across multiple titles (some successful, a couple not so much), from the indie apartment developer to the large-scale enterprise, you discover many themes synonymous to video game development.

I thoroughly enjoyed the read and found myself wanting more upon reaching the end of the book. Every chapter told the tale of a different game, and as I progressed I found my lens into the development world become more precise. And while I don’t consider myself as salty as some, I have a new-found appreciation regarding the efforts to go into some of my favourite titles - Destiny & Diablo III to name a couple.
