Cyberpunk 2077 Hype Thread

I wanted a place to post updates, hype, and discuss the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077.

Best place to start is this:

Watch 48 minutes of official 2018 gameplay from Cyberpunk 2077 and get a glimpse into the world of perils and possibilities that is Night City — the most vibrant and dangerous metropolis of the future.

Someone caught the final frame of the video:

Sorry to have kept you waiting for this for so long!

Did you like what you saw? Because for us, the fact that we’re finally showing you Cyberpunk 2077 is HUGE. Please go to our forums, twitter, facebook, discord, and do tell what you think. Is the game world how you imagined? Do you see what we meant by “immersion” when we talked about CP2077 being an FPP RPG? How does our vision of “cyberpunk by day” make you feel? We really want to know.

Aside from that, we think we owe you a few words of explanation on why we’re showing you this gameplay now, some time after industry professionals and media saw it at E3 and gamescom.

Each time we discussed the idea of showing the game to you (and we discussed this idea a lot), we were ending up in this “we’re not 100% sure” limbo. Why? Because (for most people), when a game dev shows gameplay footage from their game, it means that this is how the game is going to look or play like. It’s not the case here. Cyberpunk 2077 is deep in development. We have a lot of design ideas, a lot of mechanics being playtested, but we don’t know what we’ll end up with at launch. This makes publishing videos like what you just saw risky --we don’t want gamers saying ‘but in that previous video that gun was shooting differently’, or ‘why did you change the interface?’. Change is inherent to game development and there’s a ton of things being modified each day. Our fear was (and kind of still is) that you’ll think what you just saw is how Cyberpunk 2077 will look like 1:1.

What gave us that extra confidence to show you a work in progress game? Good initial feedback from people who are accustomed to see games at various stages of development. What they told us (and they told us they really liked what they saw) gave us the boost we needed to show the current version of Cyberpunk 2077 to the most passionate and insightful audience --you.

So… here’s what Cyberpunk 2077 looks like today (or rather looked like when we recorded the video). We sincerely hope you liked it.

Again, thank you for your patience and all the thoughts you shared with us.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been in development for at least six years and its team recently hit a major milestone: The entire game is playable from start to finish. It doesn’t have all of the proper assets, playtesting or bug fixes in place, but seeing the story come together is a critical step in the development process, Borzymowski said.

Every time I think I can’t get any more hyped for this game, I get proven wrong.

I feel like I can only be dissapointed.

3 words:

Works for me.

Nobody in this thread bought a ticket for this ride:

The nintendo generation doesn’t do patience. I want instant gratification!

Mass  Effect  Andromeda

I wanted to buy a copy of Cyberpunk 2020: The Roleplaying Game of the Dark Future. I used the have it wayyyyy back. Who knows where it is now.

Unfortunately, it’s mostly unavailable and the sellers that do have it jacked up the price.

Purchasable apartments!

Love this video…

Yeah. That’s a really good one.

This one also gets me hyped up every time, even though there’s pretty much nothing about the game in it…

This thread has more than a year to go.

Maybe not…

" Despite the deluge of new information unveiled at E3 2018, we still have no Cyberpunk 2077 release date. However, In December 2016, CD Projekt Red was given sizeable funding from the Polish government to research new game techniques that have been dubbed ‘seamless multiplayer’, ‘animation excellence’, ‘cinematic feel’, and ‘city creation’. The grant comes with a deadline, by which time the projects must be completed. Assuming they’re for Cyberpunk (they totally are), there has to be a Cyberpunk 2077 release date in June 2019.

This target matches with CD Projekt Red’s claims that they are targeting current-generation consoles for the game; the PS4 is rumoured to be due a replacement in 2020.

In February 2016, an investor call suggested Cyberpunk 2077 would be released by 2019. CD Projekt Red said it’s planning to release two triple-A RPGs between 2016-2021, and confirmed on the CD Projekt forums that Cyberpunk 2077 will be the first to come out. The studio also said that work won’t begin on the second RPG until it’s wrapped up Cyberpunk 2077."

Amazon lists December 2019. Could just be a placeholder but I would guess holiday season 2019 is a good bet.

I’m going to need to build a new rig for 2077.

I am so damn hyped for this game.
