Mini Review: Forager

I get so addicted to games in this genre. You start out with a little pickaxe hacking away at rocks and trees one by one and end up as a capitalist powerhouse with furnaces, factories, magic spells, lightning rods etc. Every so often you level up and gain a new skill - and the skill tree is really well made. You might unlock farming, or production speed, new spells or increased efficiency when mining. Almost every skill feels interesting - in the game because it’s fun, regardless of whether it’s overpowered. There’s also a Stardew-esque museum, Zelda dungeons, farming & quests. The list goes on. I played 20 hours in 2 days. Made by one guy, it’s obviously a labour of love.

I had the same feedback about the bosses. I think the minions are just there to whack, the same as trees and rocks, but I did feel like combat was practically non-existent. In my case, both bosses basically just stood there while I killed them. The game is still a huge achievement though, and I love that you can do so many different things in one game.

I had some feedback after the game having kept notes and posted it here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/751780/discussions/0/1676938384247724384/.
