There are a few 1-star’ers on the site (http://steam.ishvii.uk) but most of those are because the games are old (I got the source family of games for free with the Steam controller). This one was partly because of the mood I was in when I tried it, but I wouldn’t have liked it under different circumstances either. It seems like aside from the ‘meta game’ it tries to do, it’s basically a standard Chinese brawler which I dislike anyway.
I have found that when doing this ‘quest’, on a games library of 300+, I’ve been a LOT less forgiving than if I’d bought and played each game individually.
That being said, it had a lot working against it. I’ve been playing Hollow Knight which, while frustratingly hard in some places, has excellent controls. Coming to this game the controls immediately felt horrible, and I actually played the first few screens 3 times because it gives you the controls tutorial while there are enemies on the screen, and the text disappears pretty quickly, which was annoying.
After that, there’s a tiny boss fight, followed by a cutscene which ‘crashes’ the game with a bunch of error windows, and you get put in some kind of test chamber, which asks you a few questions. I assume that what happens next changes based on what you answer, but my answers led me to a title screen where the “play” button did nothing. At that point I just decided to drop it.
