Played the hell out of it when it came out on SEA and the high point for me was when wolves (due to an AI bug or not, I dunno) would come to you and snarl but actually were intimidated and could be driven back reliably provided you were healthy and focused on getting away. Then they started just PEPPERING the whole map with them, and nothing you could do would drive them away reliably, turning it from a game about survival into what I call “the survival mode in a first person shooter”. Haven’t played it again for a long while, and I’d like to, because I think there’s like 3-4 new areas now, you can climb, and a bunch of cool mechanics like moisture and insanity, plus there’s the campaign with the voices of Shep, FemShep AND Solid Snake.
In my book, it’s an otherwise 9/10 game driven into the ground by their stupid insistence in berserk fauna. Which is a shame. Every time I get the itch, I look for a fauna nerfing mod (game’s in Unity, after all), and I’m hopeful there’ll eventually be one if there isn’t at the moment.
