Rainmeter. This is a program that allows you to customize your desktop. What I mean by this is that you can now have button, animations, and links on your desktop while making it look really cool. It runs in the background so you don’t have to keep a window open!
Some of the things it can do are:
- HDD space
- CPU usage
- Ram usage
- Upload/download speeds
- your IP address (external, LAN, and DNS)
- current up time
- battery power (more useful if your on a laptop)
- Open just about anything you want:
- web pages
- system settings
This is my current desktop layout:
Right now, I’ve got mine set to open some of my steam games on the click of a button. I know this sounds almost redundant, but what it does is give you a really easy, cool look to your PC while retaining the core features of the desktop and adding new ones. If you want to check it out, follow the links below! There will also be links to the skins I am using on my PC. Something i would suggest you do if you if you are going to give the rainmeter a try is to hid the icons on your desktop. To do this, right click and go to view then uncheck show desktop icons. This hides your icons without deleting them!
