I completely disagree with this implication. Loot boxes in PC gaming of a much more shite variety go back a lot further than Overwatch (TF2 hats/weapons and CS:GO skins that came from crates that sropped in game but cost actual money to unlock, anyone?), and Overwatch’s boxes are purely cospetic, whereas Shadow of War’s boxes are not cosmetic; I think that’s a terrible correlation to try and draw.
I can’t speak much on Hearthstone because I have not and will not play(ed) it, but it wouldn’t surprise me. That said, the cost to play is a helluva lot cheaper than any TCG I’ve ever played (used to play MTG pretty seriously) based on what I’ve heard from @teh_ninjaneer and a few others, so at least there’s that with regards to it, I suppose.
